Miss Caroline Martell-Jones

Miss Caroline Martell-Jones

Caroline is a highly experienced sonographer with over 35 years of experience in medical imaging, specialising in a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations.

Caroline qualified in Diagnostic Radiography in 1990 and began her career at Cardiff Royal Infirmary (CRI). She subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound in 1999, before moving to the University Hospital of Wales (UHW), where she continued to develop her expertise in ultrasound imaging.

Throughout her career, Caroline has gained extensive experience in general abdominal, gynaecological and obstetric ultrasound, with a particular interest in early pregnancy scanning.

She spent many years working within the Fetal Medicine Unit alongside consultant obstetricians, performing a wide range of complex ultrasound examinations and assisting with specialist interventional procedures. This experience has provided her with considerable expertise in obstetric imaging and the assessment of complex pregnancies.

In 2012–2013, Caroline was involved in training ultrasound practitioners recruited to deliver the NHS Wales Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Programme, contributing to the development of this important national screening service.

In recognition of her clinical experience and leadership, Caroline was promoted to Superintendent Sonographer in 2019, overseeing ultrasound services across the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) and University Hospital Llandough (UHL).

At Cardiff Ultrasound Clinic, Caroline brings a wealth of clinical knowledge, specialist expertise and experience, providing patients with high-quality ultrasound examinations in a professional, supportive and reassuring environment.
